Spyderco Dragonfly 2 Salt C28PYL2 - H-1 Blade Steel - Marine Yellow FRN Handle

Unique in the knife industry, H1 blade steel has filled a need for knives meant to be used in and around water. The popular Dragonfly 2 is now being offered with this H-1 blade steel option, called the Dragonfly2 Salt. What makes the Dragonfly a bestseller is its mid-sized blade, ergonomic handle with a front-finger choil and a spine cusp.  Its blade-to-handle geometry and leveraging points fill a gripping hand, making it feel like you're cutting with a much larger knife.  The Marine Yellow FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) handle is molded with a grip pattern called Bi-Directional Texturing' that ergonomically fills the hand with a series of angles and leveraging spots.

For a better grip textured jimping has been added to the choil and spine. The screw-together handle construction and a left/right tip-up wire clip make pocket carry effortless and convenient.  Precise positioning of the enlarged Spyderco Round Opening Hole in relation to the pivot makes opening/closing smooth. Hollow-ground for high cutting performance, the blade comes in your choice of PlainEdge or SpyderEdge configuration.

Great little knife. Very light and small so don't even notice I'm carrying it.

I like that it won't rust. Also the marine yellow is great if you drop it somewhere it is easy to spot.

Liked it so much I bought my brother one as a prese t.

    Must have

Every knife buff needs a Dragonfly. If you use a knife near salt water, you'll especially appreciate the H1's rust proof properties. This knife is small enough to disappear in your pocket, yet the blade size is very useable, practical, and razor sharp right out of the box.

    Great little EDC

Posted by Steve Morgan on Aug 17th 2014

I bought this to take with me when I'm doing anything in the water like swimming, tubing, fishing, etc. I've taken it swimming a few times just to test the H1 steel. It's perfect, no rust at all. The H1 takes a very sharp edge. The edge retention is not as good as my Native with S30V, but for sure it's good enough for most every day tasks. I do like that it sharpens easily and I love the size. The other things is that I can get all four of my fingers on it because of the choil. Excellent design and a great handle color too. It really pops when you set it down.

    Best all around EDC.

I really love this knife. It's the perfect EDC and blade length size to pretty much all of your typical every cutting tasks. I love my Delica but I find my self carrying this one much more, especially during the Summer months when I wear shorts and sweat a lot. This thing will not rust at all! I already out it through all the tests. I like this knife so much that I just bought another one. I also really love the yellow handle. It makes it very visible if you drop it in grass or the woods. I would tell you that if you only buy one knife for an EDC, this one would be the closest to perfect you can get.

    Spyderco Dragonfly 2 Salt

This is a small knife that should pass legal limit in most places. Light and small enough to carry in the pocket, yet ergonomics of the knife makes effective cutting chores easy.

The H1 Steel is great, as you literally don't have to worry about your blade rusting. Re-sharpening is easy too, with the right techniques. Edge retention of the H1 steel seems to get better after some usage and re-sharpening.

Opening with one hand is easy like all Spyderco designs. I like the ergonomic handle with the front-finger choil, as it not only gives you a good grip, but makes one hand closing safe too. You won't have the blade "chopping" on your finger when you release the back lock with one hand. The blade will just land safely on your finger due to the front-finger choil.

Camping, fishing or bringing it for a hiking trip. The Dragonly 2 Salt is one you won't regret bringing along. I like it alot.
