Produced by lionSTEEL exclusively for Spyderco, the Slym™ (pronounced slim) “Spyderized” Michele Pensato’s popular Skinny folding knife by adding our signature Trademark Round Hole to the blade. This version of the design elevates it even further by cloaking both the blade and handle in a stealthy black WCC (Tungsten Carbide Carbon) PVD (Physical Vapor Deposit) coating. The knife’s full-flat-ground, drop-point blade is crafted from Böhler-Uddeholm’s M390 particle metallurgy stainless steel. In addition to its fully accessible Round Hole, the satin-finished blade also includes a unique removable flipper tab and rides on ball-bearing washers for an ultra-smooth action. Together, these features allow swift, ambidextrous, one-handed opening using a variety of different methods. The Slym’s painstakingly crafted handle is machined from a single piece of titanium using lionSTEEL’s remarkable SOLID technology. In contrast to its durable black WCC coating, it features a stunning black-and-white Dark Matter Polar fatcarbon carbon fiber inlay on the obverse side. The handle’s reverse side houses a sturdy Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) mechanism and a long-wearing hardened-steel interface. This premium feature provides a steel-to-steel contact point and serves as an overtravel stop for the lock bar, ensuring a long, reliable service life.
