Spyderco C94PBK UK Pen Knife - CTS-BD1N Leaf Shape Blade - Black FRN Handle

Spyderco developed the UK Penknife after the United Kingdom prohibited the carry of knives with locking blades. They began refining the classic slip-joint pocket mechanism with a notched joint and added two Spyderco features that define the modern folding knife: a pocket clip for convenient carry and our Trademark Round Hole for easy, ambidextrous one-hand opening. The UK Penknife is 100% made in the USA and is available with either a leaf-shaped or drop-point blade design. Both are flat ground from CTS BD1N stainless steel and feature opposing jimping on the thumb ramp and index-finger choil for positive control.

    An awesome FFG slip joint!

The first thing I will say is that the picture is wrong. These now come with a Full Flat Grind. The knife is light for its size. I thought the Delica was light, this is even lighter. From it's closed profile it looks like a Caly 3 and the leaf blade is very reminiscent of that amazing knife too. The FRN handle feels like G10. It's just about as grippy as the G10 on my dad's Manix 2, excellent! I love the BD1 blade steel. I have the Manix 2 Trans blue and have had great luck with it. Not quite as good on edge retention as S30V, but takes a better edge faster and holds it long enough for my needs. Wire pocket clip = perfection. The ergos are great and the jimping locks your hands in well. The choil is very comfortable and keeps the knife from folding on your finger. The thing that surprised me was how strong the lockup was in the open position. The only other slip joint knife I have is a Voctorinox Tinker. The spring on this is roughly 3 to 4 times stronger. I have pretty strong hands and I really have to push on the thumb ramp to close it. Unless you're going crazy on this thing, I can't see it folding up on you. The blade profile is super thin and cuts through cardboard, tape, string and other EDC materials like butter. For the price, it's a killer EDC. I can see myself reaching for it often. Great job Sal! I felt sorry for our UK brothers, but now owning this, I think they have a home run here's and I pity them no more.
