Spyderco C28FP2K390 Dragonfly 2 - 2.29" FFG K390 Blade - Blue FRN Handle

Spyderco's latest version of the ever popular Dragonfly 2 is now available with K390 blade steel. The Dragonfly was originally released in 1994, and ever since has been one of their best selling models, due in no small part to their ease of carry thanks to their lightweight FRN (fiberglass-reinforced-nylon) handles.

Dubbed K390, this steel is manufactured by Böhler-Uddeholm, and technically known as K390 MICROCLEAN. It is a state-of-the-art cold work tool steel produced by the particle metallurgy process. Its advanced alloy mix was specifically developed to provide the extreme wear resistance and high compressive strength needed in industrial cutting, blanking, and punching operations. Despite its toughness, its exceptionally fine, homogeneous microstructure also makes it readily machinable and easy to heat treat. These qualities make K390 an outstanding blade material for true steel connoisseurs.

    Spyderco Dragonfly 2 blue FRN

Great Service from CSI. Steel is fantastic K390. Blade centered and sharp.
This is a gift for my wife with very small hands so should work well for her, even with my med. hand i can hold it comfortably with finger on Choil.
She wanted a small good knife and this is a great knife. Only apology is the FRN, never have liked it, wish Spyderco would make the same knife in G-10 . Would then be perfection.!
You can Trust the guys at CSI, a pleasure working with them.
    All the Best
    Dennis.

    Lightweight EDC

This is my third Spyderco Dragonfly and might possibly be their best version yet. The Dragonfly is really an exceptionally well designed knife that seems to have no business being as practical and usable as it is for its size. The ergonomic design of both the blade and the handle allows for very precise and fine control while also remaining comfortable enough to use for extended periods of time. The K390 steel so far is amazing. K390 is a tool steel that is definitely not stainless, however with some basic maintenance (a light coat of oil or EDCI once a week-ish and wiping the blade off when it gets wet) I have yet to see any hint or sign of a patina, but YMMV. What K390 lacks in corrosion resistance, though, it more than makes up for with its insane edge retention. My K390 Dragonfly came with a "toothy" but crazy sharp edge that has remained just as keen as the day I unboxed it, despite being my primary EDC for weeks, slicing through cardboard, paper, plastic and fabric (old t shirts). Bottom line, I can't recommend this knife enough if you're looking for a small, discrete EDC that is capable of punching way above its weight.
