SOG Knives S1TL Bowie 2.0

Based on the SOG Bowie that helped found SOG Specialty Knives, this knife has morphed into a top-notch working knife with the use of modern technology and materials.

SOG’s modern replica is based on the original Studies and Observation Group knife secretly developed and used in the Vietnam War by the 5th Special Forces, as well as other elite soldiers. These individuals were specialists in reconnaissance, infiltration, and operations behind enemy lines. The SOG Bowie 2.0 has become a classic with unparalleled quality- The sculpted crossguard, deep hollow grinds, precision detailing, TiNi coating, and faceted tip are all unmistakable signatures.

I received my knife within only a few days after ordering it. It was packed/boxed very well. upon opening, I was delighted by the appearance and the quality of this knife and leather sheath, with sharpening stone. I collect knives, a lot of them being high quality and expensive. The craftsmanship and materials used in making this knife and sheath is top notch. The blade is AUS 8 stainless steel, with cryogenic heat treatment, and has a nice-looking black semi-gloss finish with TiNi coating. The stacked leather washer, finger grooved handle has a lustrous finish, and appears smooth and uniform in arrangement. Very good looking. Usually knives with handles like this take on a better grip after they are broken in with age and use. If you aren't going to use it then that shouldn't present a problem since you will then continue to have a knife that will always look pristine and new. The edge of the blade is razor sharp right out of the box, and you could probably shave with it. The black leather sheath is also very well made; thick and durable, and contains a field sharpening stone in a small compartment on the front with a snap/flap enclosure. This knife comes close in quality and appearance to a SOG Trident Seal knife that I used to own, that had black micarta handles and was made in Seki Japan. It cost several times more money than what I paid for this knife. Before closing I should mention that I shopped around on the web for the best price for this knife before purchasing, and the Cutlery Shoppe got my business because of their price and free shipping. I'm happy with my purchase and recommend this knife and the Cutlery Shoppe as the place to buy it.
