Kershaw Launch 1 - 7100BW - CPM154 Blade - Hard Anodized Aluminum Handle

Got an automatic attraction? Then look into Kershaw's new Launch 1. This automatic knife features CPM154 blade steel, a strong opening kick, and is made-in-the-USA at Kershaw’s Tualatin, Oregon manufacturing facility.

The CPM154 powdered metallurgy blade steel has more uniform distribution of carbides—so it takes and holds an excellent edge. It also provides good corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and toughness. The blade is finished with Kershaw’s BlackWash finish for rough-and-tumble good looks and an additional measure of blade protection.

To lighten the Launch 1's weight, the handles are durable anodized aluminum and are contoured to fit snugly in the hand.

The Launch 1 opens with a push button, which is recessed so that it is level with the flat of the handle. This is a safety feature and makes it harder for the knives to accidentally deploy. Nevertheless, automatic knives are dangerous and should be handled with extreme caution in all circumstances.

The Launch 1's pocket clip is left/right reversible. For left-handed use, use your index finger instead of your thumb to press the blade-release/lock button.

    Kershaw Launch 1

This knife is commensurate in car terms to a Porsche. It is solid, the construction leaves no room for error or loose movements of blade. The opening spring is nothing short of the fastest and most deliberate lock and load automatic knife I've held. The contour of the handle is perfect for a blade foreword grip in defense tactic and a comfortable and solid as well as practical grip in daily use. The blade is 2nd to none in slicing edge precision cut with a CPM 154 steel which will hold an edge against heavy use, with excellent thickness and length for strength and utility. The thumb rise has a perfect width to give the thumb a solid rest if needing to use the blade in carving. The reversible pocket clip is ideally placed to give leverage for your fingers on the backside (right scale) and butt of the knife, opposite side and end relative to the red concentric circle target shaped opening button positioned (left scale) next to the pivot. This gives an excellent control of the knife, holding it secure against your palm when releasing the firepower of that opening spring which is simply spectacular as it locks in place immovable! The stone washed finish gives it a subdued luck while at the same time giving the blade an aesthetic that stands out and apart from the handle. The stone wash is not just there for looks either, as it gives corrosion resistance and an excellent finish to look to the blade. Kershaw stands out as a veteran knife maker whose experience and innovation as well as tradition meet to forge my favorite automatic knife.

    Excellent auto knife

I really like this auto knife. It feels solidly built. The spring action button is quick and snappy. The blade locks in place after you open it. It has a flat profile so it fits nicely in the picket, using the clip. The blade is very sharp and I like how wide it.

I really love this knife. It opens strong and the blade holds an edge very well. Out of the Launch series this is my favorite and the one I carry daily.
