Designer - John Benner:
Only a 33-year veteran police Lieutenant could truly understand what makes a knife effective for close-quarters defense. While serving as President and Chief Instructor of Tactical Defense Institute, John Benner saw time and time again what he already believed to be true from first-hand experience: In a conflict, fine motor skills deteriorate and gross motor skills are most effective for fending off assailants. Benner then set out to design a low-profile fixed blade knife for law enforcement, military and security personnel that could be drawn quickly and efficiently in times of duress. After more than a year of prototype samples and in-field testing, the Benner-approved TDI knife was put into production. The same basic principles that founded that first knife were incorporated into all future TDI models, which now complete an expansive line of tactical knives.

First off, big thanks to Jeff for getting this posted. I saw that this site had the serrated version of this knife online, but not the straight edge. I simply e-mailed Jeff, and he stated that not posting the straight edge online was an oversight. Jeff immediately got it posted. Jeff has the best deals I can find.

Anyway the knife. The TDI knife is a must-have for any LEO seeking a fighting knife. Its clever sheath design allows for the knife to clip onto the inner belt, under the duty belt. The sheath is designed to not take up valuable duty belt real estate. The knife is quicker to deploy than just about every folder. The only folder that may keep up is a wave knife, but a fixed blade is easier to pull when your fine motor skills go out the window during a stressful event. You can also find dull training versions of this knife so you can do serious training with this design.

The knife is very sharp, and I've had no reliablity or durability issues with the TDI knife.
