Whether you get it with or without the sheath it is a great buy. This is a classic design and a great knife.
Great knife that is priced right and performs well as it will not disappoint...
Excellent knife, big, powerful and sturdy. Thick, full tang, with a good gripping handle and lanyard hole.
Absolutely awesome knife ! I cant say enough about the value to quality ratio on this knife. . I highly recommend this knife AUS 8 steel and Kraton handle feels durable. I think this is the best value in the entire knife market for a 7.5 inch blade combat survival bowie. I give 2nd best value to Cold Steels Survivalist knife.
Buy a Gryphon M35 it's made in japan QUALITY at an outstanding price .
Howdy, one and all!
This gryphon M35 knife is an outstanding bargain. It arrived razor sharp. Overall appearance is nice, with a muted no-glare finish on the blade. The handle is comfortable. It has an extended tang (through the handle), which is a nice touch.
The design is based on the Randall Model 14, so it fits in sheaths made for that blade.
My Gryphon is currently riding in a Sullivan sheath I had made for my Model 14.
I am a knife guy, and I simplty don't know of a better value available in a combat/camp/survival/fighting knife.
This is a truly oustanding value in a survival/combat/field knife. The blade dimensions and style are so similar to the Randall model 14, that it fits in the Randall-issued Sullivan sheath without any problem.
Handle is comfortable. It has an extended tang for things one would use an extended tang for.
Overall fit and finish leaves nothing to be desired.
I like it enough that I'm already thinking about picking up a second for my jeep's gearbag.
Knife only (no sheath) - Very impressive - Quality, Steel, Grip, all great! Faithful reproduction of Randall M14 “ATTACK”. This is a very well made knife, well worth $50 (if not twice that).
BLUF: Buy now.
I always liked the m35s, should've ordered these years ago. I don't think you can beat the quality for the price. I like the fact that it blends historic design features - Randall 14 blade shape and Schively grip (yep 1830s Philadelphia, that guy). I doubt the grip was on purpose though; probably going for the border patrol look.
Solid design and good steel for a great price. AUS8 is just fine for me 1095 would have been cool as well. I have yet to find a real benefit for the more modern super steels. Good PM and matching purpose to task have always served as good advice.
So why 4.5 instead of 5?
1. On both blades the tips seem to be thinner than I remember, but I'm likely to sharpen the swedge anyway.
2. Again, On both blades there is a dull spot for about .5in just after the edge drops for the ricasso. Easy fix on a stone.
I would recommend buying now. I doubt these last or come back.
Fantastic survival knives. Japan makes great AUS8 steel. Highly recommend this classic blade. Get One..
