    Gerber Fastball Clever 20CV

Posted by Ben on Dec 18th 2022

My experience is completely different from others on this knife. With that said this is my first knife above $30. My knife came as good as expected. It feels solid with no wobble. Blade is centered. It deploys fast and solid without any issues. It is very light. Maybe that's why some feel it's cheap. Again my first experience with this price range. I feel this size is perfect for edc. As far as the cleaver choice time will tell for what I use it for. Blade is sharp but not hair cutting sharp. Edge is even without burrs. Color is more grey than blue. I actually like it that way but I would leave blue out of the description. Overall very happy with my first mid grade purchase. Not relating to the knife cutlery shoppe far exceeded my expectations. I seriously thought it was a scam for the price. Google and Facebook led me to give them a try. I am sure glad I did. Very easy purchase and extremely fast shipping with tracking. No joke the best online experience I've had. And to boot they include gifts and candy in the box. Can't say enough nice things about CSI.

    Not terrible

This knife grows on you. At first it’s disappointing but then after using it, it’s not that bad. It feels cheap but so far it hasn’t failed.

The badly done little decent knife

This knife has a lot of good to it but truly this knife was executed so wrong. The size is great and the detent is dang near perfect. The action performs very nice. The fault in this knife is not in its performance. The one liner that it has looks awful. It looks as if it was rough cut and then some paint was thrown on it. That’s something I expected 20 years ago from a cheap oriental toy that came out of a quarter turn machine in front of shoneys. Next is why only one liner? I can see it if the liner was recessed but this makes it appear as if the blade is not centered. The last thing I have negative to say about this knife is the gunk inside the pivot and inside the bearings. In a factory I understand there’s a lot of metal dust but when you put the knife together make sure the parts are clean before assembly. I had to deep clean this knife to see its full capability. This knife has great aluminum scales and the pocket clip is very good. The steel used is awesome and the liner lock even though it’s ugly functions as it should. This is a $99 knife all day long and if it stays at this price then it a badly done little decent knife.
