Benchmade 585 Mini Barrage - AXIS Assisted Opener - 2.91" Plain Edge 154CM Blade - Valox Scales

This blade is probably my fav BM for EDC(I have 7 different BMs and have played with many)!!! The steel at 154cm is easy enough to sharpen and the geometry of the blade makes its one of the best slicers and cutters. The edge did great from factory, but I like to sharpen all my blades and I put a 30 degree bevel with a 35ish degree microbevel on it and it is wicked sharp, wow. The looks of this blade are amazing, one of my favs, so well made and beautiful, cant get enough of it!!! The scales provide enough grip. The open/close is great and the assisted open is actually better than I thought (I like manuals more) and can be deactivated which makes it the smoothest BM I have, opens and closes like a bigger BM. The lockup is tight, detent is awesome and can get four finger grip on it (6'2" 250 athletic with large hands). It wont slip out of my hand as I have had this blade for months and used it often. I like it as much as the mini-grips and that says a lot, its like a better quality mini-grips with cooler looks, not mall ninja cool, just aesthetically pleasing!!! The axis assist is the most positive assited-opening action that I have used. The spring drives the blade to the fully open position rather than relying on inertia to complete the action, as most assisted knives do. The mini barrage is a good size for discrete carry, if you use a knife around sensitive people. It's close in size to the mini griptilian, but the handle fills my grip better. Overall, I gave this knife a top rating because of the value, a quality, American made EDC with axis assist for a very reasonable price
