    Great PM2

Posted by Ron on Nov 20th 2022

I own a ton of Spyderco’s and have had several variations of the PM2 but this blade shape is great. I will say that mine did not have a smooth action out of the box even after working it open and closed for a few days while watching tv. I ended up taking it apart and polishing the washers and then after putting it back together it’s perfect and drop shutty while still being rock solid with no play. This is not the first time I’ve had to do this so it was no big deal. Also the screws had some kind of white locktight that was so thick I had to heat one of the screws to get it loose. Again not the first time I’ve had to do it and it could have just been the knife I got but keep that in mind if you want to change the scales. I would definitely recommend this knife to anyone.

    Pm2 Wharnie xhp

This thing is Nasty (in the best possible way). Blade centering came spot on, and action was fall shutty out of the box without adjustment. I immediately put it in AWT scales but I was extremely impressed with the stock g10 scales. If I hadn't already had an AWT/Spyderco theme going I would definitely have put it in a set of Cerberus knives scales.

    Love it

Smooth drop shut action, good even grind, zero blade play and almost perfect centering out of the box. If the new blade shape still looks familiar to some, upon receipt I noticed comparing to my others it is essentially just a standard PM2 blade profile flipped upside-down. Very clever. I'm pretty darn happy with it.

    Knife Excellence Right Here!!

Posted by Mark R. on Sep 6th 2022

First, fit and finish on this PM2 was superb. It was screaming sharp out of the box. Cutlery Shoppe's service was top notch as well. 100% satisfied customer on this knife and purchase. I highly recommend this PM2 and a purchase with Cutlery Shoppe.

More on the knife: Starting with the baseline of how good the PM2 is (so this isn't so long), it's all that but with the Wharncliffe blade shape it takes the utility for some tasks up to another level. I've come to really appreciate the Yojimbo 2 and this exclusive gives the user another option that can provide similar capability with a blade profile that provides a bit thicker of a tip but on a narrower blade. I'm choosing this over the Stretch 2 as my "round the ranch" blade. I like the Stretch 2 for the PM2ish setup and the thinner blade stock (especially as a box destroyer w/K390 steel) however, I believe the PM blade is decently slicey enough so that the "real" PM2 attributes (handle/compression lock/thicker stock for tougher use) outweighs any short coming in comparison, making this a solid choice for me. That's not even including the added benefit of the Yojimbo 2 like capabilities provided on a PM2 platform which is a HUGE kicker in my decision here. Finally, the choice of CTS-XHP steel provides decently increased edge retention which may not be as high as K390 but better than S30V or S35VN on average.
