Spyderco Native 5 C41POR5 - CPM-S90V Blade - Orange FRN Handle

Our longtime customers and collectors know we have a "thing" for orange, which is an addiction that many of our customers seem to share. This latest Cutlery Shoppe exclusive, our first on the Native platform, is the result of many customer requests.

Blade deployment is super fast thanks to Spyderco's signature Trademark Round Hole™ for easy, ambidextrous, one-handed opening. The Native 5 Lightweight features an FFG (full flat grind) blade crafted from premium CPM S90V stainless steel. This advanced particle metallurgy steel is enriched with a high vanadium content to promote the formation of hard vanadium carbides instead of chromium carbides. Explained more plainly, this enhances the steel’s wear resistance and edge retention, while also providing superior corrosion resistance.

Since first introduced in 1997, the Native has been a mainstay of the Spyderco product line and a flagship of their American-made stable of knives. The design has evolved steadily over the years, reaching its current state of the art in 2012 with the release of the Native 5. The latest addition to the Native lineage is the Native5 Lightweight, which combines the Native5's engineering refinements with the weight-saving advantages of an injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle. The linerless FRN handle features Bi-Directional Texturing™ for an ultra-secure grip and reduces the overall weight of the knife to a scant 2.4 ounces. The handle also houses four sets of threaded inserts molded directly into the FRN. These allow the improved hourglass clip to be positioned for left or right-side tip-up or tip-down carry. A generously sized lanyard hole also provides a handy attachment point for lanyards, fobs, and safety lines.

This is an excellent sprint run of the native 5.the s90v steel came sharper then I've gotten before from any factory knife.that on top of the perfect ergo's of the native 5 and cutlery shoppe's quick turn around make it a top notch selection!I wish they'd come out with more para 3's in this combo so I can try the para 3 platform

The wider grip feels better in my hand then say a Dilca or Dragon fly. I have longer fingers so the extra thickness helps. there is one pin. So it can't be taken apart. Very sharp edge, solid lockup, easy finger flick deployment. The orange color is nice, it almost reaches out to you if dropped and searching for it. I'm glad I got one.

Great little knife that fills the hand

Posted by Sergei Chernyuk on Jul 29th 2018

Was kinda sceptical about the frn handle without metal liners, but if feels surprisingly solid! Way more solid, than a Bugout for example. Action is very smooth for a backlock. Handle color is wonderful! The only reason I gave it 4 stars - mine has a bit uneven bevel on one side. But I like the knife so much - I'm thinking of buying another one.

Solid knife. Great steel. Love the orange!

This is my first real try with S90V and my first OJ knife. Looks like I'm a fan of both! S90V doesn't seem a lot tougher to sharpen than S30V/S35VN, though, to be fair, I've only sharpened S90V once. It holds a much better working edge after tearing through some cardboard, so I'm a happy camper. The orange FRN handle is just a fun bonus. I also really enjoyed the little extras from Cutlery Shoppe as well. Thanks guys!

Excellent knife! Great looking bright orange scales, razor sharp blade, perfect centering with a solid lockup. The knife fits perfectly in hand. I ordered on a Saturday & it was in the mailbox Monday! From Idaho to Georgia that was FAST!!! Overall it is a really good looking, quality EDC.

I'm really pleased with this knife- its mechanics, looks, size, overall shape, carries nicely in the pocket without being too intrusive as larger knives sometimes can be. I'd buy another if it was offered in od green
