Spyderco Native 5 - DLC Black CPM-S90V Blade - Orange FRN Handle

Our longtime customers and collectors know we have a "thing" for orange, which is an addiction that many of our customers seem to share. This latest Cutlery Shoppe exclusive, our first on the Native platform, is the result of many customer requests.

Blade deployment is super fast thanks to Spyderco’s signature Trademark Round Hole™ for easy, ambidextrous, one-handed opening. The Native 5 Lightweight features an FFG (full flat grind) blade crafted from premium CPM S90V stainless steel with a durable, non-reflective Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating. This advanced particle metallurgy steel is enriched with a high vanadium content to promote the formation of hard vanadium carbides instead of chromium carbides. Explained more plainly, this enhances the steel’s wear resistance and edge retention, while also providing superior corrosion resistance.

Since first introduced in 1997, the Native has been a mainstay of the Spyderco product line and a flagship of their American-made stable of knives. The design has evolved steadily over the years, reaching its current state of the art in 2012 with the release of the Native 5. The latest addition to the Native lineage is the Native5 Lightweight, which combines the Native5’s engineering refinements with the weight-saving advantages of an injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle. The linerless FRN handle features Bi-Directional Texturing™ for an ultra-secure grip and reduces the overall weight of the knife to a scant 2.4 ounces. The handle also houses four sets of threaded inserts molded directly into the FRN. These allow the improved hourglass clip to be positioned for left or right-side tip-up or tip-down carry. A generously sized lanyard hole also provides a handy attachment point for lanyards, fobs, and safety lines.

Can't give this thing enough credit.

WOW. got this little guy in the mail today. VERY solid. I thought maybe with it not having liners...it might be a little flimsy. Not even close. Extremely sharp. Very lightweight. 2.41 oz on a calibrated scale. The DLC is attractive and Cutlery Shoppe put some goodies in with the knife like a cool Spyderco pin!...very classy. They shipped to APO. thanks guys. Listen...this thing is a winner. Solid lockup. Don't let them sell out of these before you get one! I used to be a BHQ customer until they shipped my some knives that didn't match the pictures, and they had an attitude about it. This knife, it is PERFECT. let me say this one last thing, their Seki knives are nice, but the USA Earth ones are just a little better. GET IT

    Exceptional EDC

This sprint run Native 5 is the perfect EDC. The jimping on the blade is perfectly located and aggressive enough to for good control. The orange handles are a bonus. The CPM S90V blade is tough and extremely wear resistant.

You’ll have to look far and wide to find a better Every Day Carry knife than this Native 5 lightweight.

I love orange knives. When I found out that was Cutlery Shoppe's special thing for sprint guns I ran over here (Sprinted, even) and checked it out. So glad I I did. Love Spyderco and I love the Native platform. A refined and more robust version of my beloved Delica, but being slightly smaller and more friendly in my hand. A+

    Native 5 exclusive!

This is a great edc knife. Solid lockback design with the extremely light and grippy frn scales. The CPM S90V comes ridiculously sharp and features that awesome blacked out look. The orange scales combined with the black blade looks incredible. Definitely my favorite color combo. Thanks Cutlery Shoppe for the great customer service!

    Perfect EDC

I have been wanting a Native 5 for a long time. When I saw this beautiful orange and black combo, I had to buy it. The DLC coating is some of the best in the business, and the s90v is outstanding. As much as i like the Para military 2 and the Manix 2, this is a perfect sized med small blade. The frame fits the hand very well and the choil is prefect for choking up. You cannot go wrong with the Native 5

    Native 5 Orange/Black

First, let it be said that the Cutlery Shoppe provides first-class service all the way. Great folks to deal with.

Spyderco's Native 5 series of knives are all superb. They are lightweight and compact, yet durable and strong. I live in a state with literally no knife laws, so one can carry anything one wants. I prefer this model because of its size and weight. Just because it's small, don't think that it can't handle big jobs.

This particular model is even nicer. The orange and black colors jump out at you and scream to be noticed. These are so sharp that they will cut you if you stare at them long enough. They are also made in America, a great feature.

Combining the Cutlery Shoppe's great service with Spyderco's quality and solid commitment to the buyer, you simply can't go wrong.
