The button release is also larger, and the handle has been re-designed with an increased finger guard. The open backspacer was designed with easier maintenance in mind. The AFO II also features a steel glass breaker - crucial in rescue situations where seconds really count.

Each style is available with Satin or BK1 coated blade finishes, and also your choice of partially serrated or plain edge blade. I ordered this Benchmade with a plain edge and a black finish. It's very, very well made, tough, in fact, and the design and feel of the knife is all business. This is no camping knife, no utility knife and no toy. It is a weapon, pure and simple, and should be treated that way. As a collector it may be the the first real weapon I've acquired, the others being a different type of automatic knife, I just didn't understand the difference until the Benchmade arrived.
