Al Mar S.E.R.E. 2000 S2K - 3.6" VG-10 Satin Blade - Black G-10

The flagship of the AMK line, the S.E.R.E. has been updated for the new millennium. Originally designed by AL MAR and Colonel Nick Rowe in the early 1980’s for the U.S. Army’s SERE school, today’s updated models are stronger, lighter and more precise. Quite a bit has changed in the world of knives in the last few years - an evolution you might say, with great new blade steels, durable/lighter handle materials, more dependable locking systems and many other advances. The new S.E.R.E. 2000 has clearly evolved and meant to survive with its VG-10 steel blade, G-10 handle and liner lock mechanism. For more discreet carry, the pocket clip is given a non-reflective black chrome finish. The unique pocket clip is top mounted to sit lower and more discreetly in your pocket and is easily reversible for right or left hand carry. Dual thumb studs also make it ambidextrous. Even its double stainless steel liners are heat treated for maximum strength.

Built like a tank that performs like a sports car, the S.E.R.E. 2000 is truly a terrific folder. In fact, I'd say that it's also one of the toughest folders we sell! Jeff

Overbuilt before ZT began the overbuilt revolution this generation SERE is ergonomically perfect. Dead on. Stone cold. PERFECT. There is enough high quality stainless steel in the large SERE to make 2 Benchmades or 3 and a half Spydercos. YES its heavy and yes there is a BIG chunk of stainless steel in the butt that makes a devastating blunt weapon and glass breaker.

Liners? Stainless and gloriously NOT skeletonized! Thick the liners are. Lock up is likely the most solid unshakable liner lock Ive ever seen.

The G10 is some of the highest quality G10 Ive ever seen on a knife. The hand finished contouring is as good as if not better than that found on thousand dollar custom knives. Thankfully the SERE is a flow through design making it very easy to clean.

The blade. The glorious spearpoint design blade is a thick slab of Seki City VG10. Perfectly ground and sharp! I like my knives scalpel sharp so after a quick ride on my Sharpmaker and a bit of stropping my SERE easily whittles hair.

VG10 is some of the best blade steel on earth. I put it above American S30V and even S35VN. It holds its edge like tool steel yet is pretty easy to sharpen.

This knife rides on teflon washers. Some may moan and groan that they are not phospor bronze. Well PB are not self lubricating are they? I have seen where some PB devotees have put PB washers in their SEREs only to have to constantly lube them. Lesson learned.

In todays world of everything being overbuilt to ridiculous extremes the SERE 2000 is a refreshing example of overbuilt done not just right but perfectly. Buy it!

    Lives up to the hype!

The box arrived in perfect condition with an Al Mar catalog (very smart!) The knife is scary sharp right out of the box and was lightly oiled. For being so heavy duty it carries very discreetly in your front pocket. I thought it would get in my way but it is less noticeable than a much smaller SOG that was my normal EDC, until this arrived! I'm thinking next I need the Olive Drab version... Thanks Cutlery Shoppe for the best price available, and incredible customer service!

    A Superb Folder!!

This knife has everything going for it. Fit and finish are excellent, it locks up like a vise and the action is as smooth as silk. Ambidextrous thumb studs, VG10 steel and elegant G-10 scales complete this masterpiece.
It rides low in the pocket and deploys in a flash. If you could only buy one knife, this should be it.

    My New EDC Knife...

Wow. What a great knife and great service. This will not be the last time I deal with the Cutlery Shoppe or Al Mar Knives. This knife is a TANK! And it fits perfectly in my pants pocket; riding very low. Hell, I even wore it to church today. It is my new Every Day Carry knife. - And since I live by the words two is one, and one is none, I will shortly be buying another one... and getting another as a gift for a friend.
