Al Mar Eagle "H.D." Heavy Duty 5HDBLT-ZL - Blue G-10 Scales

The new Al Mar Knives Eagle HD is built for the individual that carries the Eagle Ultralight for their "EDC" and wishes they could have a tougher version with the same features as the SERE 2000. Well here it is, the all new Eagle "HD" Heavy Duty. The "HD" weighs in at only one ounce more than the Ultralight™ version, it has skeletonized heat treated 400 series stainless steel liners, Blue G-10 scales, adjustable action, dual thumbstuds and a reversible/removable pocket clip system which attaches through the lanyard hole. Just as the Eagle Ultralight is very easy to carry and disappears in your pocket, so does the Eagle Heavy Duty. AMK took the same great profile and slim design and added strength and features. The Eagle Heavy Duty may quickly become your favorite "EDC".
This brand new G-10 EAGLE HD is a Cutlery Shoppe Exclusive. It features a laminated ZDP-189 Talon blade, blue G-10 scales with a blackened steel pocket clip.

    Beautiful knife

Posted by David Norris on Apr 22nd 2015

I have an Al Mar Falcon ultralight that I love but I wanted something a little beefier and longer for an edc. I saw this an instantly fell in love. My main gripe with getting another Al Mar is price for the steel used, AUS 8 is a great steel but there are many other better steel options in that price range.

I have been using ZDP-189 in a Spyderco Endura 4FFG and a Dragonfly 2 and have been really impressed with the edge retention and durability of the steel. So I finally got the Al Mar laminated ZDP version

This blade is slick. Very thin, razor sharp out of the box with a fit and finish that is second to none in this level of knife. The blue G-10 just pops, it is non threatening and a beautiful choice, Jeff and CS does colors right for their exclusives!

Lastly the customer service Jeff gave me was excellent. I had questions and requests and he answered all of them and treated me really well. Cutlery Shoppe has a very happy customer, thanks Jeff!

    Love this knife!

There is that rare occasion when a knife I've purchased delivers more than expected, as is the case with this particular Al Mar Eagle HD. The first thing I noticed was how well made this knife is. Cutlery Shoppe's exclusive version has beautiful blue G10 scales and partially milled SS liners. The ZDP-189 Laminated blade comes razor sharp right out of the box. The thumb studs are unique and offer excellent traction allowing you to flick the blade open quickly. You might have to tighten the pivot when you first get it, mine was a bit loose. There is really nothing I don't like about this knife. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a light weight EDC or emergency tactical blade. Based on the thin profile and extremely light weight it may very well retire my Endura 4.
